Introduction by the editor
If you do not care about the distant future, far-away lands, or remote possibilities, you need not care about climate change. Rich countries have emitted most greenhouse gases, poor countries will suffer disproportionally from climate change. Climate policy is regressive as it will make energy and food more expensive. Climate change and climate policy therefore redistribute resources. Although no one disputes these basic facts, economists tend to shy away from giving equity and fairness a prominent place in climate policy analysis. Most relevant JEL codes
